“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.” (Rainer Maria Rilke)

It feels like more than ever we live in a time of big questions. As old structures and concomitant stories about the world and our place in it crumble or reveal their inadequacies, we may find ourselves travelling through unknown inner and outer lands without compass or maps. We can easily end up in a relentless maze of thoughts that go nowhere and leave us feeling adrift, anxious and stressed.

Poetry and movement are both modes of enquiry that take us out of thinking-centred ways of knowing into connection with the wisdom of our embodied heart and imagination. They allow us to hold our questions within a bigger space of mystery and possibility. We may not arrive at the answers we thought we were seeking but we may emerge with a different perspective, a new way of being with the questions, a sense of grace and spaciousness around the not (yet) knowing.

STRUCTURE: In these sessions, we start with a poem or text as our gateway into movement-based enquiry. There will be some facilitation to support us to awaken/activate our embodied, dancing self as well as plenty of time to explore without words, supported by the music and the life material that we bring with us. We then move into space for reflection through sharing, journaling and art-making.

In order to create an intimate environment for connection and sharing, spaces are limited. Advance booking is essential. To book please email movingintoconnection@outlook.com with the subject line Moving the questions.
