About Rob

For the past 15 years I have worked as a counsellor in private practice, with long and short-term clients. In this, I use insights from my training in Movement Medicine, particularly in working with the client's embodoed responses and energetic flow, and exploring together how energy held in past traumatic experiences can begin to move.

Prior to that I worked for 30 years in education, primarily teaching English in secondary schools. I am very interested in the stories we tell ourselves as a way of making meaning out of experience, and how these stories can then become barriers between our thoughts and the embodied, emotional experiences that gave rise to them. I work a lot with 'what the mind has forgotten, but the body remembers,' as a way of uncovering the roots of habitual behaviours and unconscious assumptions.

Specialising in:

I offer individual mentoring sessions which combine movement (focusing on the interoceptive embodied experience and how energy moves through the body) with therapeutic awareness (maps to describe how mind and body are connected and how we can change the narratives in our heads about what is happening) so as to bring body, heart and mind into true alignment.
