Mira Khanya is a UK based Movement Medicine teacher. Growing up in South Africa, she brings with her a deep connection to the aliveness of nature and the beat of the drum. From an early age creativity was central in Mira’s life. Today the rich tapestry of her experience as a dancer, therapist and artist is woven into her work. Her love of ceremony, the depth of meditation and shamanic practices, and the inspiration of her drama, physical theatre, butoh and coaching trainings - are all rooted in her offering. For her it's a great honour and joy to create spaces where we can unite in dance, gather resources, deepen connection and experience the power of embodied transformation - individually and collectively.

“The dance was energising, cathartic and nourishing- a perfect tonic for these trying times. I felt connected to myself, to the other dancers and the global community; Mira held the online space so skilfully and beautifully- my body felt listened to and my spirit guided. Being new to the practice, I left the dance jumping for joy and daring to dream.” - Riss
“The dance ceremony was exceptional! The fact that it was online didn't stand in the way of feeling deeply connected to the other dancers. Mira's guidance was incredibly healing, elevating and inspiring. I have been dancing with Mira for over three years now and her mastery is always deepening and blossoming. I am so grateful for these spaces.” — Bristena
“Thankful for Mira’s sacred space holding. Feeling transformed after dancing in her Movement Medicine class last night. Grateful for your precision and grace as a teacher. You freed up a space for deep internal reflection, connection to ourselves, each other, our collective history, opening to life in the present and the possibilities awaiting us. It was a truly moving and profound experience. This is beautiful medicine and the music is delicious!” - Rachel

“In these ceremonies I find the resource I need to respond to life mindfully and take inspired actions.” - Irina
"I have now experienced a whole cycle of Mira's Movement Medicine Cacao Ceremonies. From Winter Solstice 2018, Spring Equinox, Summer solstice, Autumn Equinox and again the Winter Solstice 2019. It is deep, profound magic. I so appreciate the opportunity to witness my cyclical life through the lens of prayerful embodied ceremony. I see how Life too is a dance of dark and light, ebb and flow. It is with such huge gratitude to Mira's hard owned wisdom that this work had been brought to the Roundhouse for us to experience. She is a medicine maker and deeply intuitive space holder who I feel fully supported and held by. I can completely let go in her space, knowing that she is acutely, humbly and lovingly aware of all that is unfolding. I feel honoured to be witnessed and to witness myself and others during these powerful portals of time. There is really nothing I would rather be doing on power portal points of time than prayerfully dancing with soul family. Mira, thank you from the bottom of my heart." - Tori
