“As we tap into the deep sources of bodily wisdom through creative art expression, we dance the renewal, recreation, and healing of ourselves and our world.” Anna Halprin
I was born in the mid 1960s and grew up in the country. In my teens, twenties and thirties I was hugely determined to find a freedom and sought that in the world of material achievement and changing the world in any way I could. I was also extremely lucky to have some people in my life who lived in a heart-ful way and through that crack I started to discover myself as a human being.
One of those cracks was a ‘5 Rhythms’ workshop. I discovered I loved to dance and that it brought a clarity, feeling and freedom into my life. Eventually I came across Ya’Acov and Susannah Darling Khan. As they developed their own Movement Medicine practice I followed as I knew it was the medicine I needed.
I was hugely lucky to be able to study in depth with Susannah and Ya'Acov as a Apprentice and later to follow the path to become a Movement Medicine teacher. This is a huge pleasure, privilege and source of on-going insight and inspiration. I love to feel and witness the capacity of Movement Medicine to help us be more ourselves, to love and have a bit more compassion for ourselves and others, and to see the many ways the dance floor helps us in our lives.
I feel that the time I have here is an on-going quest to become a human being. This is both a joyful and at times painful quest as I meet the shadows of myself, my ego, my will and attachments. Yet I find that the more fully I give in to life the richer and freer my life is.
